Copper State HRC (CSHRC) is a club dedicated to the hunting retriever. CSHRC was founded 1 Jan 97, when the Valley Of The Sun HRC and the Quail West HRC merged. They did this to conduct better hunt tests and to better serve their members and dogs.
CSHRC is affiliated with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA); a national organization dedicated to the preservation of the hunting instincts in our retrievers. At AKC hunt tests and NAHRA field tests dogs in the field are judged against a set of standards, not against each other.
CSHRC also conducts training days and seminars, fun hunts, and other events that help our dogs become better hunting dogs. This club is for anyone interested in testing their retrievers for fun or breeding, and most importantly, for anyone who wants to train their hunting retriever to do the job for which they were bred. We are a very diverse club with experienced trainers and handlers as well as some members whose only goal is to improve upon their dog's ability to hunt.
CSHRC is open to anyone with such an interest, be it with a retriever or another non-traditional breed, with the desire to participate in AKC and NAHRA events or just enjoy the companionship of the field with their dogs and friends. (NAHRA allows all breeds to participate in their hunt tests)
What CSHRC can offer you is the chance to meet many people with similar interests in retrievers, puppy training clinics, snake breaking clinics, field training and testing your retriever, introduction to many breeders and professional trainers, pheasant and chukar hunting, along with skeet and trap shooting.
Let me welcome you to our club and I hope it will be a wonderful experience for you and your dog. As you can see this club is not just focused on field testing, but rather focuses on all around enjoyment with your retriever. Thank you for your interest in CSHRC and NAHRA.
